Curriculum is what we teach; instruction is how we teach. The Ferguson-Florissant School District has a curriculum that is "well organized, sequentially developed and future oriented." These are the words used by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education when its review team accredited the District under the Missouri School Improvement Program.

Our curriculum is developed and reviewed by teachers and administrators under the direction of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. District policies ensure continuity in student learning by requiring the following:

Specific standards of student achievement at all grade levels in all subjects;
A measurement of progress from grade to grade;
And similarity in content at each grade level.

The District's curriculum stresses the basics while encouraging teacher creativity in the delivery of the instructional program and in the development of new programs to meet the needs of students. The District works to infuse the curriculum with activities that help students become effective problem-solvers, team players and communicators.
