Students, teachers and administrators from four Ferguson-Florissant elementary schools have begun an exciting learning adventure.

Airport, Bermuda, Cool Valley and Holman elementary schools are engaged in an Extended School Year program to boost student achievement.

A Focus On Time

The focus of the Extended School Year Program is time. This program adds time to the school year for both students and teachers. Students attend school for 200 days and teachers work for 220 days. Studies indicate time is a critical factor in retention of knowledge. While the four schools will have the same curriculum as other District schools, the structure of the day, the number of days and the time spent on areas of difficulty have been reorganized for more effective student achievement. Time has been reorganized to focus on areas of difficulty.
