The Ferguson-Florissant School District has been selected as a recipient of a "What Parents Want" award from SchoolMatch, an educational research firm that provides school information for parents who are relocating. SchoolMatch maintains an extensive database on 16,000 school districts in the country. Only 15 percent of school districts nationally have been selected for this award. SchoolMatch assembles school data from auditable sources such as state auditors, state taxing authorities and state boards of education. Using 81,000 parent-client surveys, SchoolMatch identifies the characteristics parents want most in their child's school district. Then they use their database to identify the "What Parents Want" award-winning school districts. Following are some of the characteristics identified by parents as highly desirable: accreditation, recognized for excellence, small class size, and academically solid but not so rigorous as to intimidate their children. Ferguson-Florissant has been a recipient of the "What Parents Want" award for six consecutive years. The effectiveness of the Ferguson-Florissant staff is reflected in numerous national, state and individual awards. All three levels of education -- elementary, middle and high school -- have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education under its Exemplary Schools Program. Our schools have been recognized as U.S. Schools of Excellence, Missouri Gold Star Schools and Drug Free Schools and Communities Schools of Excellence. Individually, our staff and students consistently earn state and national recognition for outstanding achievement. Accreditation
