Family support is the heart of student success, and parent participation is an integral part of the learning process in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. Teachers and administrators welcome opportunities to interact with parents and work to develop strong relationships. We encourage parents to become involved in their child's education beginning in the Early Education programs and continuing through graduation from high school.

Our Early Education programs, such as Parents As Teachers, LINK and Saturday School, are recognized nationally as effective models for parent involvement. As students enter kindergarten, our elementary schools build on the Early Education parent involvement model and bring parents into the elementary educational process through traditional parent-teacher conferences, parent-child activities designed to create strong bonds between home and school, and the traditional parent-teacher organization activities.

Volunteer opportunities are available for parents at the school and District levels, and we encourage our parents to become involved in these activities to help us provide the best possible services for our youngsters.

By the time students reach the secondary level, the rapport we have achieved through effective parent involvement becomes key to student success. When we are successful in building a strong support base for our students, the relationships between home and school provide the groundwork that helps parents through the high school years.

Parents who have become comfortable with teachers and the educational process through the elementary and middle school years will be positioned to successfully guide their youngsters through high school and launch them into post-secondary education or the workforce upon graduation.
