Attendance Matters - Be Here Every Day. All Day.

Student success starts with good attendance and is the responsibility of the student, family and school. School attendance is one of the most reliable predictors of student success. Students who attend school regularly have a better chance of building a strong foundation as they move from kindergarten to high school.

Did you know?

Chronic absence means your child has missed 10% or more of the school year for any reason. Missing just two days a month adds up to missing 10% of the school year. When students are chronically absent, the risk of falling behind increases. Parents and guardians can help their child be successful by encouraging regular attendance.

Helpful parent tips:

  • Ensure students arrive at school and class on time.
  • Only allow your child to stay home when he/she has a contagious illness or is too sick to attend school.
  • Positively reinforce your child for good attendance.
  • Make appointments for weekends or evenings.
  • Get involved with the school/attend parent meetings, parent teacher conferences and school activities.
  • Set regular bedtime and morning routines.
  • Reach out to your school counselor, social worker or seek medical help if your child refuses to attend school or frequently complains of illness.
  • Make sure your child exercises, eats a balanced diet and gets plenty of sleep.
  • Contact your child’s principal, counselor or social worker regarding any attendance related questions.
