Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education Votes to Place Prop S on April Ballot
Over the past year, several hundred Ferguson-Florissant residents have participated in a series of community surveys, public meetings, and advisory groups to discuss the needs of the District. Their work was part of our ongoing strategic planning process for Ferg-Flor Forward. Based on their recommendations and input from staff, the Ferguson-Florissant Board of Education voted to place Proposition S on the April 7 ballot.
The measure would increase the district’s operating levy by 48 cents for the purposes of enhancing safety and security for students and staff; increasing staffing to manage documentation requests related to the federal Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA); addressing other essential staffing needs; and providing funds to support competitive salaries for non-administrative staff. Ferguson-Florissant has not asked voters for a levy increase since 2014, when the community approved a 50-cents increase.
If Proposition S is approved, senior citizens who apply and are approved for the St. Louis County Senior Citizen Tax Freeze by June 30, 2026, would not see an increase in their taxes in 2026 or future years, as long as they continue to meet eligibility requirements.
Local funding makes up approximately 60 percent of the District’s operating budget. This would be the District’s first levy request in more than a decade.
