McCluer North Receives the Safe Sports School Award
McCluer North High School (MNHS) has demonstrated what it means to work hard, play hard, and be safe! MNHS received the Safe Sports School Award, which is given by the National Athletic Training Association (NATA). The NATA recognizes secondary schools around the country that take the crucial steps to keep their athletes free from injuries.
“To achieve this award means that we are working to lead our athletics program to the highest safety standards for its players,” said athletic director Chris Kusnerick. “It’s highly imperative that we keep our student athletes safe.”
In order for MNHS to qualify for the award, the athletic program had to demonstrate maintaining a positive athletic health care administrative system, be sure that athletes and parents are educated of the potential benefit and risks in sports, as well as their responsibilities, and more.
“We’re very thankful to our current and previous athletic trainers, Taylor Simmons, and Tiffany Edmondson,” said Kusnerick. “Keeping our students safe while putting in hard work in their games and competitions is our first priority.”
