We Want to Receive Your Feedback Regarding Start Times for the 2018-19 School Year
The Ferguson-Florissant School District is exploring ways to improve attendance and academics. Many factors play a role in those areas including adequate rest. The American Academy of Pediatrics urges middle and high schools to aim for start times that allow students to receive at least 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep a night.
Arriving at school on time with adequate rest will improve learning. It is extremely important for our students to be engaged in learning the entire school day because we know every minute counts toward their success. In light of this information, the district is exploring new start times. End times will be determined based on the current DESE requirements and teachers' contract agreement.
Your opinion as a parent, student, or staff member is important to us. Please complete the survey below with a scenario for approximate start times. The scenario includes each grade level because any changes would impact the start and end times of each school level. The results will help guide the decision-making process for start and end times during the 2018-19 school year. Click here to complete the survey.
