Schools and District Offices Closed on Monday, June 20 in Observance of Juneteenth
On June 17, 2021, Public Law 117-17 was signed, designating Juneteenth National Independence Day (June 19) as a federal holiday. Now a federal holiday, Juneteenth celebrates the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States as a national commemoration of emancipation.
On August 11, 2021, the FFSD Board of Education considered and approved the addition of this holiday to the calendar. All FFSD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
We join surrounding communities in recognizing this important milestone and our continuing journey to racial equity and social justice.
