Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome Back! We hope that you and your family have had a productive and enjoyable summer. The Walnut Grove community is excited for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year! As always, our primary focuses are student safety and achievement. By continuing to cultivate and grow our home to school connections, we provide the best learning opportunities for our students. Walnut Grove is full of families that value education and care about our neighborhood and school family.
Our Meet the Teacher Night will be Tuesday, August 13th, 4:30-6:00 pm. Please come out and get to meet your child's teacher and receive expectations.
The Ferguson-Florissant School District is transitioning to paperless notifications and verifications for students and families. An essential part of this transition is the Parent Portal. The Parent Portal allows you to receive up to date information on your child's grades, attendance, discipline and so much more. Receive school and district information easily and set up notifications about your child's daily progress. Check your child's schedule and bus information with just a click of a button. You may also update your contact information and emergency contacts at any time throughout the school year.
If you have already signed up for the parent portal you should have received an email notification with your credentials and login information. A requirement of your child’s successful start of the school year is verification of your information. This can easily be completed through the online system. Included in this mailing are instructions on how to access these forms and navigate the system. Once all forms are completed you will receive an email notification stating you are approved and your child is ready to go. Please contact us if you are unable to complete the online process.
If there is a change to your child’s end of the day routine, please notify the school office with a written note or telephone call prior to 3:45 p.m. Individual students will not be dismissed from the office between 3:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m., due to our school-wide dismissal procedures.
During dismissal, the bus and daycare vans will be loaded in the assigned parking spots in front of the school. Please take note of staff directing traffic at the end of the day. Cars are directed to the back playground in order to keep traffic flowing. Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe at dismissal!
Finally, communication and support will be essential components to building the best school for our students, teachers, and community. For this reason, we encourage you to build a relationship with your child’s teacher and contact them regularly. If you ever have a question about a specific situation or procedure, please refer to the Parent/Student Handbook. You may also contact the school at 314-524-8922.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone!
We are the Bears, ROAR!
