• CONTACTING TEACHERS:

    Our partnership will determine how successful your child will be in the program. Teachers will be available by email, phone, and upon appointment. The daily point sheet requires a parent signature. Parents should check the point sheet for written communication with teachers. Parents will be contacted by the teacher or administrator if a conference is required to address academic or behavioral concerns.


    EXPRESSING CONCERNS:

    Our relationship is based on shared goals and high expectations for your child to reach their full potential. Consistent communication will create a winning situation for your child. Please keep us informed about information that may affect your child’s performance, health or behavior.

    PARENT CONFERENCES/VISITS: Parents are encouraged to visit the Student Support Center. A twenty four hour notice must be given however for the visit to occur. All visitors must sign in at the welcome desk. Conferences with teachers must be scheduled prior to and not to interfere with instructional time.

    NEWSLETTERS/BULLETINS: Please check with your child for special announcements and information about Mark Twain activities.

     

    SCHOOL SUPPLIES

    Homeroom teachers will furnish parents with a list of school supplies required for their specific program. Students must have the supplies required in order to be successful. It is their responsibility to come prepared and frequently replenish their supplies as needed.

     

    STUDENT HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUES:

    Please provide the MTSSC will any and all pertinent information in relation to your child’s health needs/accommodations. Students/Parents should review the Student Support Center handbook and the Ferguson-Florissant School District Discipline manual. The student discipline code recognizes that acceptable behavior is essential to promoting an effective instructional program.


    PARENT PERMISSION FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT:

    A student shall be permitted to turn in prescription medicine to the school nurse. All medicine should be accompanied by a medical release from parents so that the medications may be taken on the premises as prescribed. Students may not keep medicine on their person on campus.

     

    PARENT PERMISSION FOR FIELD TRIPS:

    Students shall be permitted to participate in field trips if behavior and level requirements are satisfactory. Parent permission is required to attend any field trip. Forms and additional trip information will be sent home for parent signature prior to any activity of this kind.


    SEARCH AND SEIZURE:

    The school administrator or a designee shall be responsible for protecting the health, safety and welfare of students and the school personnel. The staff will conduct a search and seizure when there is reasonable cause.
