Hi Junior Stars!! I am Mr. Larrew, your building principal.

I am so excited to welcome a new group of graduates every year at Wedgwood Sixth Grade Center. The best part about our school is that our students come together for the first time as a graduating class, who are destined for greatness! We work hard to make sure our students strengthen their skills of teamwork, advocacy and perseverance so they can successfully navigate a rigorous secondary school experience. As our students settle into teams, and begin to explore their own passions and individuality, they are supported through this journey of adolescence!  It is going to be a great year and our students will be ready when they leave us!

Mr. Downing brings nearly 30 years of experience in education and leadership and has held key leadership roles in Ferguson-Florissant, including most recently as interim principal of McCluer North High School, prior to that he also served as assistant principal at Ferguson Middle School. Before that, he served 11 years as the assistant principal at McCluer High School. Prior to joining the District, he was principal at Atchison Alternative School in Atchison, Kansas, for four years. He also served as a teacher in St. Louis Public Schools for 12 years.

Mr. Downing holds an educational specialist degree in educational administration from Lindenwood University. He also holds a master’s degree in educational administration and a bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University. Downing is a Kansas native. He and his wife have been married for 25 years. They have two daughters: one daughter earned her degree from Xavier University in New Orleans, and their youngest daughter just finished her sophomore year at Tennessee State University.

Mr. Downing began his career in Ferguson-Florissant in 2012; he has built great relationships with students and parents and is looking forward to serving the Wedgwood families!
