School Counseling Program
-
The School Counseling Program is a vital component of the educational experience. It offers a comprehensive approach that supports students' academic, personal, social/emotional, and career development. As growth and learning are developmental, guidance must be tailored to this progression, starting from preschool and continuing throughout life.
The Comprehensive School Counseling Program is a K-12 initiative that addresses the needs of all students, while recognizing that some individuals may require additional support. Rather than being solely crisis-oriented, the program is designed to be developmental, ensuring all students receive the attention and guidance they need.
What Do Elementary School Counselors Do?
-
Elementary School Counselors help students develop the skills and attitudes needed for academic success. They teach students that the classroom is their first workplace, emphasizing the importance of communication, decision-making, interpersonal skills, and career awareness for achieving success.
