Ms. Kelly Barbaeu

Mrs. Kelly Barbeau is a Social Worker with Special School District. She provides individual and group counseling along with case management services for students with special education services.

Mrs. Barbeau graduated from the George Warren Brown School with her Master's degree in Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. She also has a Bachelor's degree from Truman State University in Communication and Sociology. She became licensed as an LMSW in the summer of 2014 and will be receiving her LCSW later this year.

Mrs. Barbeau started her social work career answering suicide hotlines at Provident/Life Crisis Services. She then worked in the Family Support department at St. Louis Arc, a nonprofit agency that helps adults with developmental disabilities live productive, meaningful lives. Her experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities led to her to a career at Special School District working as a paraprofessional in a therapeutic classroom. The following year she became a School Social Worker and has been working in the Ferguson-Florissant School District for three years.

Mrs. Barbeau's main priority when working with students is to identify and eliminate social, emotional and environmental barriers to students' success both in and outside of the classroom.  She believes that collaboration with teachers, parents, and outside agencies is critical to helping students receive maximum benefit from their school experience.
