Our very own Krystle Hoisington, a language arts teacher at McCluer North High School (MNHS), received Certified Journalism Educator status from the Journalism Education Association (JEA). Hoisington will be honored April 14, at the JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention in San Francisco, California!

“Ms. Hoisington dedicates her heart and soul to the program at MNHS,” said Dr. Andrew Croley, principal of MNHS. “Her ability to earn the title of Certified Journalism Educator by her professional organization is proof that she is determined to make the journalism program at MNHS one of the top programs in the state of Missouri. Her students will be the ultimate winners of this recognition.”

Hoisington joins a growing number of teachers who realize journalism is an academic subject requiring a qualified instructor. This honor recognizes Hoisington as such an educator. Educators who gain this certification status show evidence of continuing education and professional growth, knowledge of teaching, and advising methods in scholastic journalism and leadership at local, state, regional, or national levels.

“Receiving this award is a very exciting accomplishment as an educator,” said Hoisington. “I think this will immensely help the students because it proves to them that hard work does pay off in the end.”
