McCluer North High School (MNHS), in the Ferguson-Florissant School District (FFSD), announced that senior Michael Cambron has been selected an “Honorable Mention” student by the 2018 Missouri Scholars 100. The Missouri Scholars 100 is a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri’s top academic students in the graduating class of 2018.

“We are more than proud to present this honor to Michael,” said Dr. Croley. “Michael is a true example of what achieving looks like within the Ferguson-Florissant School District, and we are extremely excited for him. This is the first time in many years any of our students have received this recognition.”

Missouri Scholars 100 is a program sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MOASSP). Schools across Missouri were invited to nominate candidates for this statewide recognition. The selection is based on a formula using students’ grade point averages (GPA) and ACT or SAT scores. Each student nominated had to first meet criteria of an “Academic Decathlon,” which included ten “events” designed to assure the academic strength of the student. To meet the decathlon requirements, the student must have met the following criteria:

• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.750
• Have a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1280
• Be ranked in the upper ten percent of the class
• Enrolled in upper level courses in mathematics, science, English, and foreign language
• Have excellent attendance
• Be an exemplary school citizen
• Be involved in the school activity program

“Students who are selected to this program have taken a rigorous course of study and have maintained the highest academic standards,” said Phil Lewis, Executive Director of the MOASSP. “The MOASSP wants to celebrate the achievement and success of these students and their schools.”
