PBS - Positive Behavior Incentive System
Dear Parents,Our job as educators at Commons Lane is to provide the very best education we can for your child and also ensure a safe learning environment.
We have a system in place – Positive Behavior System (PBS) – to recognize those students who remember to: Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible
This year Commons Lane will also be implementing a school wide behavior plan. This plan will include:
- Green = great behavior
- Yellow = warning (teachers may choose to give a verbal warning before the card is changed)
- Orange = loss of recess
- Blue = pre-referral form filled out (3 pre-referrals equals a referral to the Principal)
- Purple = referral to the Principal
Classroom teachers will also have a special class sheet with every student’s name and the color levels. When teachers pull a card in the classroom it should be marked with a check on the sheet. Teachers will bring this sheet to special classes. Special class teachers would give a warning as usual because it is a new class, but then check the next color level if needed. For instance, if the child comes to special classes on orange and makes a mistake after being warned, the special class teacher will check the next box which is red (phone call). That teacher will have the student make the phone call home before they leave the class.
Thank you for your support in helping to reinforce positive behavior with your child.
