• FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT (FERPA)

     

    The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. ß 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. However, specific types of student information are categorized as "Directory Information." Such information (see items below) will be available to anyone requesting it unless you file a written objection to the release of this information with the building principal. Directory information includes student name, address, telephone number, date of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, most recent previous school attended, photograph and videotape not used in any disciplinary matter and student work displayed at the discretion of the teacher with no grades displayed.
