Find it Fast

    Dear Central Families,

Can you believe we are in the second month of school? I am pleased to report that we have some great things happening at Central Primary.  We are focusing on our Attendance goal; “Central scholars will attend school 96% of the time or better for the year.” We are currently at 89% for our Proportional Attendance. One percentage point away from the state-required 90% needed for our full points for Annual Performance Rating. Thank you, parents, guardians, grandparents, aunts, uncles, big sisters and brothers for making sure our scholars are here every day and on time.

I am pleased to report that our scholars are following the High Expectations, PBIS routines, and Second Step practices to self-regulate their behaviors. The High Five expectation are Be Cooperative, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be Kind and Persevere. The Three Rules are: 1) Hands are for helping, 2) Ask for help, and 3) Tell an adult. So far we have only had three (3) office referral for consequence. That’s down 26 referral from 2018-19 this same time last year.

Academically our teachers are rocking and rolling. Reading instruction in every day for 90 minutes covering phonics, reading community habits, comprehension skills, and writing. Math is 60 minutes a day covering fact fluency, computation and problem-solving. Science is 45 minutes a day covering physical science, earth science, space, and scientific methods. We are preparing Central scholars for the jobs that haven’t been created yet.

Parents, please read with your scholar(s) 60 minutes a day. Ask them how they were a responsible, cooperative, safe and kind learner at school each day. Ask them how they persevered today. Ask them how they can use what they learned today at home and in their life. We are so proud to serve your students this school year.  Please let us know how we are doing.
