Congratulations to STEAM Academy Middle School 8th-grade science teacher Gina Pereda on being selected to receive an Inspiring Teacher Award by the Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis. 

Pereda is one of seven area educators to receive the award. The award recognizes teachers who have continued the Challenger legacy of inspiring students. Awardees were selected based on student nomination, including a submission describing how the teacher inspired them to pursue a career in STEM. Pereda was nominated by STEAM Academy at MSB High School student Hailey Reynolds. More information on this year's awardees.

This year's recipients were honored at an event on Jan. 26, at the Challenger Learning Center in Ferguson.

The Challenger Learning Center engages people of all ages in space mission simulations, STEM education programs and team-building experiences.
