Board approves new administrator

We are pleased to announce the Ferguson-Florissant School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Brent Mitchell as chief of staff. He replaces Kevin Hampton, who is retiring at the end of the year after 32 years of service in the District.

Mitchell currently serves as the assistant superintendent of academics and operations at Ignite Community Schools. Prior to that role, he served as director of academics and operations and principal at Lighthouse Charter Schools. He also previously served as principal at Fuller Middle School in Pulaski County Special School District and middle school coordinator at Little Rock School District. Mitchell began his career in administration in 2005, serving as an assistant principal at Maumelle Middle School in Pulaski County Special School District.

He is pursuing his doctorate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He holds an education specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Central Arkansas. He also holds a master's in teaching and educational leadership from Harding University and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Mitchell to his new position and to the Ferguson-Florissant community. We wish him much success in the coming school year.
