Board approves new administrators

Ferguson-Florissant School District is proud to welcome the following administrators into their new roles for the current 2023-24 school year.

Nakia King

Director of Recruitment and Employee Relations

King brings 17 years of experience in education and leadership, having previously served as principal at Westview Middle in Riverview Gardens School District. Prior to that role, she served as principal at McKinley Classical Leadership Academy and Gateway Middle School in Saint Louis Public Schools. She has served as an academic instructional coach at Compton-Drew Middle School and dean of students and instruction math specialist at Sumner High School in SLPS. She began her career in education in the School District of University City as a math teacher at University City High School and Brittany Woods Middle School.

King holds an education specialist degree, a master’s in education administration, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri - St. Louis.

 

Dr. Kaylan D. Holloway

Associate Principal, McCluer

Holloway comes to the District having previously served as principal at McKinley Classical Leadership Academy in Saint Louis Public Schools. Prior to that role, he served as vice principal at Metro Academic and Classical High School in SLPS. He began his career in education as a social studies teacher and program director at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. In addition to his school leadership, Holloway has served in several fellowships, including Focus St. Louis, Teach for America, Forward Through Ferguson, and The Opportunity Trust.

He holds a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from Maryville University and a master’s degree from University of Missouri - St. Louis. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri-Columbia.

 

David H. Murray

Chief Academic Officer

Murray comes to the District having served as an adjunct faculty member at American University in the Education Policy and Leadership department. Prior to that role, he served as a literacy coach for the Children’s Literacy Initiative. He began his career in education as a learning specialist and bilingual special education teacher at Latin American Montessori Bilingual PCS and Rocketship Rise Academy. He has served as a board member on Prince George’s County Board of Education since 2016 as the chair of the Science of Reading workgroup and budget committee chair.

Murray holds a master’s degree in literacy with a concentration in dyslexia from the University of Central Arkansas. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. In addition, he earned language proficiency certifications in Spanish and French and certification in K-12 administration and special education.
