Board approves new administrators

Ferguson-Florissant School District is proud to welcome the following administrators into their new roles for the 2024-25 school year.

Kemba Metropoulos

Assistant Principal, Lee-Hamilton

Metropoulos currently serves as an assistant principal at Cross Keys Middle. Prior to that role, she was the dean of students at Robinwood Intermediate. Prior to those roles, she spent 14 years as a high school English teacher at Jennings, McCluer North, and Parkway Central. She also taught dual enrollment writing classes through University of Missouri-St. Louis.

She holds a law degree and bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She also holds an educational specialist degree from University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Doug Wright

Principal, Central

Wright is a proud alumnus of McCluer North and has served the Ferguson-Florissant School District since 2002. Wright currently serves as the assistant principal at Commons Lane Primary. He brings a wealth of experience in education and administrative leadership. Prior to this role, he served as an assistant principal at Walnut Grove Primary. He has also served as an instructional support leader at Wedgwood Elementary and a teaching methods coach at Holman Elementary.

He was an elementary classroom teacher at Commons Lane Elementary from 2002 to 2012. He began his career in education as a 5th-grade teacher.

Wright is pursuing his educational specialist degree from Lindenwood University. He holds a master’s degree in elementary administration from Lindenwood University and earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Harris Stowe State University.

Taylor Cameron

Principal, Robinwood

Cameron has served the Ferguson-Florissant School District since 2014. He currently serves as an assistant principal at Cross Keys Middle. Prior to that role, he was the math instructional support leader at STEAM Academy Middle. Cameron served the District as a teacher at Johnson-Wabash 6th Grade Center, serving as the math department chairperson from 2019-2021. He started his career in the District as a classroom teacher at Parker Road Elementary.

Cameron holds a master’s degree in elementary administration from Lindenwood University and a bachelor’s degree from University of Central Missouri.

Emily Dolphus

Assistant Principal, Cross Keys

Dolpus currently serves as an assistant principal at Ferguson Middle. Prior to that role she was the instructional coach. She began her career in education as a classroom teacher for 15 years at Halls Ferry.

She is pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership and superintendency from Maryville University. She is a K-12 reading specialist and has certification in K-12 administrative leadership. Dolphus earned her bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University.

Demetria Handley

Assistant Principal, Ferguson Middle

Handley serves as the math instructional support leader at McCluer High School. She is entering her ninth year in education. She previously served five years as a math teacher at McCluer North. Prior to that role, she taught math at Confluence Preparatory Academy.

She is completing her educational specialist degree in education administration from University of Missouri-St. Louis. She holds a master’s degree from Lindenwood University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in mathematics from Southeast Missouri State University.

Albert Harrold

Assistant Principal, McCluer North

Harrold is a proud alumnus of McCluer High School. He currently serves as the director of family and community engagement since 2019. Prior to that role was a science teacher and coach from 2006 to 2019 at McCluer South-Berkeley High School. He was awarded the 2017 Apple Teacher of the Year and the Challenger Learning Center Inspiring Teacher Award in 2019. He began his career in education as a classroom teacher in the Wentzville School District.

He is pursuing his doctorate from Liberty University. He holds a master’s degree in educational administration and bachelor’s degree from Lindenwood University.

Dr. Kaylan Holloway

Principal, McCluer North

Holloway currently serves as the associate principal at McCluer High School. He came to the District with a wealth of leadership experience and is well known as an experienced administrator having previously served as principal at McKinley Classical Leadership Academy in Saint Louis Public Schools. Prior to those roles, he served as assistant principal at Metro Academic and Classical High School in SLPS. He began his career in education as a social studies teacher and program director at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. In addition to his school leadership, Holloway has served in several fellowships, including Focus St. Louis, Teach for America, Forward Through Ferguson, and The Opportunity Trust.

"I am thrilled to join the McCluer North community,” said Holloway. "I am a native of St. Louis, born and raised in North St. Louis city. As a leader I have always had a focus as a community builder and building academic success within schools.”

He holds a doctorate in educational leadership and administration from Maryville University and a master’s degree from University of Missouri - St. Louis. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri-Columbia.

Dr. Michaela Thomas

Director of Counseling

Thomas brings nearly two decades of experience in counseling, student development, advocacy, system support and crisis intervention.

Thomas has served as a district home school liaison since 2021. Prior to that role, she was a licensed professional school counselor and testing coordinator in Prince George’s County School District in Maryland from 2016-2021. She also served in Hazelwood School District from 2007 to 2015 as a licensed school counselor and department chair. She began her career in education at Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Academy Charter School in 2005. She also holds certifications in student services, administration, and special education.

Thomas holds a doctorate of philosophy in higher education administration from Saint Louis University. She holds an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from Webster University. She also holds a master’s degree in counseling from Lindenwood University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Missouri- Columbia.

Sean Joyce

Assistant Superintendent of Elementary School Leadership

Joyce has a career span of more than 25 years in education. He currently serves as principal at Robinwood Intermediate. Joyce has served students in Ferguson-Florissant School District since 1999. During his tenure in the District, he was principal at Griffith Elementary, interim principal at Combs Elementary, instructional coach, and a classroom teacher.

“I am committed to working with school leaders to ensure that we continue cultivating learning environments where staff, parents, and community members support each other to make teaching and learning an enjoyable experience.”

Joyce has a master’s degree in educational administration from Lindenwood University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Brent Mitchell

Assistant Superintendent of Support Services

Mitchell brings nearly 25 years of experience in education and administration leadership. He currently serves as the chief of staff in Ferguson-Florissant. Prior to coming to the District, he served as the assistant superintendent of academics and operations at Ignite Community Schools. Prior to those roles, he was the director of academics and operations and principal at Lighthouse Charter Schools. He also previously served as principal at Fuller Middle School in Pulaski County Special School District and a middle school principal at Little Rock School District. Mitchell began his career in administration in 2005, serving as an assistant principal at Maumelle Middle School in Pulaski County Special School District.

He is pursuing his doctorate from Liberty University. He holds an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from the University of Central Arkansas. He also holds a master's in teaching and educational leadership from Harding University and a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Jane Crawford

Assistant Superintendent of Secondary School Leadership

Crawford brings 30 years of experience in education and leadership in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. She currently serves as the assistant superintendent of support services. Prior to that role, she was principal of STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkeley High School. Before becoming an administrator at STEAM High, Crawford served the District in numerous leadership roles, as both principal and assistant principal at the elementary and secondary levels, attendance administrator and dean of students. Prior to becoming an administrator, Crawford started in the District in 1993 as an English teacher at McCluer.

Crawford holds a doctorate and education specialist degree in educational leadership from Saint Louis University. She also holds a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in English from Truman State University.
